Last year, Ps Nathan & Bec felt strongly that the Lord is calling Nexus Church into deeper faith and discipleship, and so begun the phrase ‘Find your Three’.
Throughout the year, small discipleship groups of church members gathered intentionally around scripture which in turn, would deepen the understanding of faith and build a stronger sense of community and togetherness through the ups and downs of life.
Now in 2022, this is again an invitation for each member of our church to begin their Discipleship 3-5 group for the year ahead.
How does it work?
Within our church communities, people are encouraged to gather regularly in small groups (3-5) with the conversation being deliberately faith-based: discuss scripture, ask questions, reflect & pray together.
The invitation is for everyone in our community – new Christians, those always in church and everyone journeying with Jesus.
It’s a courageous ask; a nudge into daily devotion around scripture and deliberate deeper discussions with a small group.
Begin today by asking some new friends if they want to join with you.

S.O.A.P. is a way of reading the Bible reading and can include journaling. It can be used with any daily Bible reading plan – ideal to use personally or as a conversation focus around your Discipleship Groups.
S for Scripture
Open your Bible to today’s reading (according to whatever plan you are following). Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and write it in your journal.
O for Observation
What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words.
A for Application
How does this scripture apply to your life, your situation right now? Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new promise, or corrections for a particular area of your life. Journal how this scripture can apply to you today.
P for Prayer
Take a moment to pray and ask God to speak to you, or bring revelation to the scripture you have read. You don’t need to use fancy words or be overly formal, but aim to be honest and authentic.
